This is a multi-phase process, with timelines dependent on the functionality required on the USIM, artwork and integration. If you have any questions, please do contact your account manager or mvno-support@uk.aql.com




Once all of the required paperwork and payments have been completed, you will be entered into the activation process for your account. Creation of the SIMs, upon approval of the electrical and graphical design (see below) is as follows:



Identifying yourself as a partner

UM - Unmediated Partners

Partners who have their own billing system and will produce the end user's bill themselves. Such partners must route and terminate their own traffic. This applies to Voice and SMS, both MO (mobile originated, ie. Outbound) and MT (mobile terminated, ie. Inbound).

PM - Partially Mediated Partners

Partners must have their own billing system and will produce the end user's bill themselves. aql will route and terminate all traffic.

FM - Fully mediated partners

Partners who do not have their own billing system will be fully mediated partners. aql will route and terminate all traffic. Martin Dawes Systems will power the management and generation of the end user billing cycle.

Service Timelines

Please note that this timeline is for guidance only as these processes are outside aql's control and time is not of the essence.

Customers will also be given access to aql's APIs for integration and testing. This process is not linked to the SIM ordering, and can be followed concurrently:


During the testing period, a date will be agreed during which you will be able to perform testing with a member of the aql® technical team. We will not be able to perform integration testing before this date.



USIM Order Process

A completed order form must be submitted containing the following details

  • USIM Quantity - these can be ordered in batches of 10,000 with a minimum purchase of 10,000 USIMs. Please see prices section for more details on costings.
  • Artwork Specifications (as described in prices section
  • Electrical Profile - An electrical profile is accepted as part of the artwork process. The electrical profile allows default subscriber options to be specified on the USIM (such as the home network name, default internet homepage - please discuss options with your account manager. Additional options may result in delays in the delivery process.
  • Software Profile - contains a description of the additional functionality to be included as part of the USIM not associated with the core electrical profile. This may result in additional charges and delays in the delivery process, depending on requirements.
